Dropping a Trailer my order
Note: Should have said "Pull the Fifth Wheel Release Arm"
When pulling out from the Trailer, Please go SLOW ! If the Trailer is loaded, Drop the AIR BAGS. This Video is My Order that I use.

Being a CDL Driver may require you to make some very difficult backing maneuvers. Due to a lack of room, I had to back down a dead end road and up a road to the Dock.

Love the video and information
Hey Steve, I’m attending CDL school at this time. I test next week. I’m an older fella. Any tips on certain companies hiring older rookie drivers and what is best - tanker? Dry van?flatbed? reefer? etc. Prefer no OTR. Or do you believe I will have to do OTR to get ANY experience?
What is the best fit for you I am 73 - found a job that is 8 hours per day. No touch. Move trailer no more the 12 miles to the next warehouse and back. Not great pay but it’s a great fit for me. Write down everything you want in a trucking company. What can you do and what you cannot do. How many hours do you want to work per week. Local or over the road. Sure there is more but that a start. Do you research and ask questions to everyone
@@jeff-hx6ir ask your instructor, if they can let you do some 45 and 90 degree alley docking. Not sure if alley docking is on your test. Working hard every day is a must.
@@truckerstevecdlinstructor thanks. Alley docking is not on test but I’m sure they will let me practice

No, you’re wrong. No, you’re wrong. No, you’re wrong. No, you’re wrong. You can’t tell me when I got my class a license. You can’t tell me I didn’t get my class a license in 1992 jackass I got my class a license in 1980 upright no, no no no no no no no no what you’re talking about jackass
Why would I wanna do that and I’m sitting here telling you I got my license and 1980 something seriously is wrong with you
😂
I was driving tractor trailer in 1977 and 1978 and a 1979 so I don’t understand where you get that from truck driver with CDL license been on a long time so whoever told you that in 1992 they must been on sorry to tell you that I don’t know how to text back I ain’t going back-and-forth with you
All you have to do is google the history of the CDL License! So easy to do. Do your research 😮
How did CDL come in affect in 1992 and I got mine in 1980 please explain that
You and I got a Class A - chauffeur license. By midnight December 31, 1992 all new tractors trailer - Bus Drivers ect. Received a CDL license. You and I were grandfathered in and received a CDL licenses to replace the chauffeurs license. The testing was also changed but we didn’t have to go through the process.
I got my CDL when I turn 18 in 1980 so it didn’t come out 92 so tell that lie to somebody else
@@59ANTDEZZY because I said I had my CDL since 1975, the comment to me was that I was not telling the truth. Just a name change - not a big deal. Most people would understand.
@@59ANTDEZZY I agree with you. Not telling any lies even knowing the CDL license came into effect in 1992, you and I are professional commercial drivers.
Yes, technically they are correct. But it really doesn’t make that much difference. My dad drove tour buses from 74 to 88 with the hack license. Then drove limousines for another 15 years. When they switched to CDL his naturally changed over to the CDL.
@@only1muppet I agree. Back in the 70 ‘s to today - just a name change.
The right speed it up the left slow it down so the left pivot .?
@@maximus2944 not sure if that’s is the case. You may have something there. Left the trailer is slower unless you’re doing a blind side back. Tractor is on the opposite side of

Great video ❤ I have been trying to get my CDL license for a year now until I got introduced to an immigrant helper who assisted me getting mine for a decent amount
Wish you would have showed the set up
Check the many videos on my channel. The setup is the same for reverse offset - parallel parking ect. After your setup, you backup and control the rear of your trailer. Keeping it on time. Your CDL instructor will help you with the setup.
I hope this helps. Wednesday is my last attempt trying to pass this parallel backing
Why is this your last attempt? Are you testing or finishing up your range training?
@@truckerstevecdlinstructor testing
This is my problem is fixing the mistakes 🤦🏾♀️
Is your CDL instructor showing you and teaching how to correct or fix an error. Hopefully you will have a good setup but a poor setup happens. Must know what you need to do to fix it
You're not telling the truth. You had a choffers license. CDL's license didn't come out until 1996.
I had a Class A License - in 1975. When new CDL regulations came in, all class A Drivers was dovetail in. All class A drivers before 1996, was a tractor trailer driver - new name for our license after midnight December 31, 1991 was CDL. To many drivers had licenses in more than one state. Lots of Points on their license, the tractor trailer drivers would get another license In another state.
The correct word would be - Grandfather In - no road test needed. Yes you are correct about the name of the license before December 31, 1991. Iam used to saying CDL.
Ok
Yes, a driver may lower the landing legs then remove the air / electric line and forget to pull the release arm 😢 Get into the tractor and pull out quickly. There goes the drive shaft. Always pull out slowly, if you feel resistance - You know you did not pull the release arm. Sometimes the slight movement of the tractor may cause the release arm to engage.
Thank you brotha👍🏾
thank u trucker steve 🥹
Hey Steve, we are practicing this maneuver with a 53’ trailer but the test is in a 48’ trailer. Will this make a big difference on test day?
No - if you can get the 53 in , the 48 will be easier. On the 53, you must have a really good setup - no room for error.
No different
School I’m attending does nothing like this.
The students who need more help, may be left behind.

Thank you for your comment 👍
Reverse offset "code" is back up until tandems parallel to corner cone, LR(then straighten up with trailer corner at first cone)RL. hard turns each time.
Very good 👍
Instructor Steve you always give good tips so if you don't mine I was Parking a tractor-trailer on a slant and could not get my set up right and it gave me hell it was the first time couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong trailers on both sides Yikes!!!
Get out and look 👀. Don’t rush and ask yourself what do I need to do? Where should I pull up and reset my angle. Get back in and do it. We all have situations with backing into tough spots but think 💭 it out - you will become a pro before you know it.
My instructor said while doing any of the skills, you cannot come to a complete stop, you can move slow but you cannot stop. Example; im doing the offset back and i stop my tractor to postions my wheels to the left. Im in CA not sure how true this is
That is FALSE ! Please review your CDL State drivers manual - printed or online and you will never find this I was a third party CDL State Tester and in the early stages you will stop. Even during your test, you may stop at times to think about your next step. Love to see my students do it all without a stop but yes you can stop. Talk to your CDL department head.

Definitely agree!
Easy to do it with toys
This video is awesome. I’m a new graduate thanks for sharing !
Wow these videos r giving me backing life😊
This helps, I've been over correcting and pulling up too far to change the angle. Now I know to make very small pull ups when making this type of correction. At my yard I need to blind side parallel park behind another truck and this is going to help me get that right.
As you practice, you will soon become the BOSS of the trailer. Complete control of the movement of the trailer as you back up
Trucker Steve!!! Hey man thanks for the review…. Yes, she’s a student 😂
Perfect reverse offset! Just a great job 👏
